The night air was quite refreshing to Thomas as he looked down upon the multitudes of people walking through the streets of the city, looking like little more than dots from his vantage point. How insignificant they look, like little pests just waiting to be squished. But Thomas had orders, and he didn't want to deviate from them just yet. He had been sent to track down and liquidate a Bount, and that was what he would do.
Although he was taking orders, he actually had no qualms with what the Bounts did. Like me, they see themselves as superior to those insects who call themselves 'human beings.' As well they should.

Thomas was torn away from his thoughts as his spy-fly picked up an unusual-looking source of reiatsu. A small grin appeared on his face. "Well, at least it wasn't hard to track her down."

"The insects sure are annoying today..." Hannelore said from across the street, just loudly enough for Thomas to Hear. She had a feeling that he was looking for a fight, but didn't know that the bugs were his own. She only wanted to strike up a bit of conversation. She had one hand around her waist, the lower section of her dress draped over it. She needed to be ready to run away from people if this man decided to attack, but also had to be ready to defend herself. That second necessity was why her right hand was clasped tightly around a gold-hilted dagger.

Thomas turned towards his target, his bloodlust flowing faintly from his person. "I don't know, insects can have their uses." Without a second more of hesitation, Thomas morphed into his released form. He hovered into the air, the silhouette of his winged form appearing in front of the full moon. "Let's make this quick, before I enjoy this fight too much." A very long centipede partly emerged from Thomas' left hand and he threw it at her like a lasso, hoping for it to snag her and dig into her body with its mandibles and claws.

Letting out a chuckle, Hannelore leaned over to the left, sweeping her right leg around behind her to spin out of the way of that centipede. Not wasting any time, she began running down the over-populated street, running out of town. She held her knife out in front, which helped to keep people from crowding this strangely-dressed woman. "Dammit, bugs. Couldn't I have gotten like a giant boulder rolling toward me, or a moat filled with crocodiles?..." She asked herself, the words tinged by a light german accent.

Hannelore, anticipating more attacks, bobbed and weaved through people, only stopping once she was outside the castle-like town, her back leaning up against the cobblestone wall. "Zeige dich, Vormund..." She called out, thrusting her right hand out in front of her and cutting a circle through the air with her dagger. At first, the appearance of her Doll was hardly noticeable, one could only notice the shifting of the ground beside her if they tried. After about ten seconds, though, the rocks and mud formed into a large golem, large enough to climb over the castle walls if he wanted.

Thomas snarled as the centipede failed to grab onto the Bount. With disdain, he cut the centipede from his hand and chased after her, flying across the rooftops and parallel to her. He couldn't get a clear shot at her due to the thick crowds, and he knew that his bugs may be too distracted by the presence of other people to attack his target, even if he prompted them. He followed her outside of the castle-town. So she's leading me away from the buildings and people. How cute. However, Thomas' next thoughts were less condescending as the golem emerged from the ground 50 feet away from him.

Thomas whistled as he looked down at the creature. But he didn't have to look down far. That thing can almost reach me from up here. I should be careful about my location, and need to get rid of it as soon as possible. Thomas pointed his palms at the golem, and small cricket-like bugs rained down from the sky and towards the golem, aiming to cling onto the golem's gigantic body. Let's see if I can take it out of commission early in this fight.

Quickly weighing her options, Hannelore decided to have her Doll clear away the swarm. "Vormund, Golem's Raserei!" She called out, gesturing to Thomas with her empty hand. Complying immediately, Vormund thrust his hands forward, shooting them out from his arms and toward the bugs. If he smashed them all, he'd then swing his interlocked fists at Thomas. If not, he'd swing them back around toward the bugs. Regardless, he'd end the technique by recalling the fists, locking them into position.

"Whoa!" Thomas did not expect such a lumbering giant to move so quickly. But there the golem was, moving its arms very quickly and destroying almost all of his bugs. Well, there goes that plan. But several of the bugs still remained, and perhaps the golem would not notice them until it was too late. But Thomas knew that he was in a bit of a fix. Many of my bugs won't be able to do much against that mountain of stone. What about the puppet master? Hoping that his quickness would allow him to elude the golem, Thomas divebombed from the sky and straight towards the woman herself, his hands drawn back to deliver the killing blow.

"Shit! Vormund, do your damned job better!" Hannelore shouted at the golem, kicking off the ground with her right foot. As Thomas approached, she shot forward and to the left, dodging the man's attack. The second she passed by, Vormund was turning to face Thomas, his fist primed to backhand the man into a wall. "Nobody hurts her, nobody. You'd best learn that lesson now..." The Doll spoke plainly, the words coming out gravely and rough. Not wasting any more time, Vormund turned around to follow where he hoped the bug-user would go, his right hand sweeping around in a great arc so that it would hit Thomas where he was, or where the previous hit would have sent him.

She's no easy target either. But I'd rather fight her then that behemoth of hers. Thomas' thoughts were cut short by the golem talking to him. "This thing can talk? I thought all it could do was grunt & crush." Thomas summoned another of his long centipedes and threw it one of the towers upon the wall. Its mandibles clamped into the stone, and Thomas used it to propel himself upward and out of the way of the golem's swinging arms. Up in the air, Thomas aimed his hand at the Bount and shot a swarm of large wasps with glistening stingers straight at her.

Realizing she was still wide open and Vormund was mid-swing and thus unable to protect her, Hannelore let out a cry and ran toward her Doll. Not caring about her clothes any more, she ran over to Vormund and plastered herself to his right leg. Her back was now grimy and muddy, a thick gooey brown color all over. Her front was plastered to the castle wall, the delicate lace dyed black by oil and thick layers of dust. She had only narrowly managed to avoid the insects that time, taking refuge behind Vormund. But she knew she couldn't take more of those chances. "Vormund..." she spoke with a pant, trying to keep her emotions in check, "If you don't kill those bugs, I will see to it you are tortured..." Hannelore warned, glaring at her Doll. The only response from him was a hand reaching out to the wasps, looking to crush them.

Thomas laughed out loud as the Bount fled from the onslaught of his insects. "So, little Bount-y can't fend for herself, hmm? Has to rely on her doll to protect her? What a joke." Thomas didn't really care if the golem did manage to crush the swarm of wasps. Right now, he was creating more of the wasps and various other insects, until the air was swarming with them. In total, their number was about 200. "Your golem won't be able to protect all sides, princess. My bugs will find every opening in your defense." With a wave of his arm, the entire number of insects descended upon the golem and its master.

"Vor...Vormund...Golem's Raserei, please!!" Hannelore spoke, half screaming and half crying. Her fear of anything creepy-crawly was coming back full-force, and making her want to crawl into Vormund and lock the door. Her desire to just hide from the bugs was apparent in her face. This raw emotion spurred Vormund into action, swinging his fists around to swat at the bugs. His hands disconnected once again, making large sweeping motions to crush them all. As he did so, the mud and dirt began to wash off, leaving his head and upper shoulders completely clean. His eyes now glowed a dull red, signalling the start of his transformation.

What the...? Thomas had been observing the woman's reaction to his insects with glee, noting how squeamish she became in the presence of bugs; he imagined that it would make her death even more enjoyable. However, before his very eyes the mud on the golem was beginning to break apart, revealing more of the golem underneath. Thomas was not sure of what this entailed, but he could guess that it was not good for him. He began to create his uniquely-armored beetles, their bodies slowly building up across his body and forming into a full-body armor. At the same time, he threw down his arms, some of the remaining bugs who had good burrowing skills began landing on the golem and attempted to carve holes in its body, while the rest of the bugs continued to pursue the Bount.

"V..Vorm....Vormund....Please, make them go away..." Hannelore choked out, now brushing away tears that came out of eyes that were clenched shut. After that, she just broke down into sobs, unable to speak more. Luckily, she didn't need to. Vormund was already kneeling down and turning around, so his back was to Thomas and the bugs. He placed Hannelore between his legs, so that she was completely protected by his body, except for in front of her, where walls were. Vormund smacked insects away with his hands whenever they came into his sight, and pried off a few of the ones he felt burrowing into his body. A few, he assumed, would be crushed by the movement of the mud on top of him, even more of it sliding down already. As of then, the upper half of his chest was also washed clean, the solid black stone acting to keep bugs from burrowing further.

As the armored beetles almost completed the covering of his body, Thomas noticed that the mud was uncovering what seemed to be rock that truly made up the golem. Uh-oh. I thought it was just made of tightly-packed dirt or something, not solid stone. Those bugs won't be able to do much. Thomas focused his energy to produce a certain centipede-like bug that he had used several times to get into underground bunkers to attack hiding assassination targets. It's pretty at getting through concrete and stuff; the only trouble is that this thing takes a fair amount of time to grow properly. I need to evade this mountain of a golem until then. The egg of this insect shot out of Thomas' arm and impacted into the earth. Down beneath the surface, the egg began to break apart as a larvae slowly grew.

{For clarification, this bug takes 3-4 turns to grow to its full size}

Having noticed the lack of bugs, Vormund quickly relocated the crying Hannelore to his shoulder, looking more like a pile of dirt and dust than a human being. As he got up, Vormund also noticed how Thomas seemed unguarded. Taking his now-clean arm and reaching out toward the man, he also put the other hand over Hannelore. She was completely blocked by his body, but he knew that was for the best right now. He just had to get to his next form, then she'd be safe...

Thomas grew slightly more curious of the Doll's behavior. If it just wants to protect her, why doesn't it take her away from me? Is it waiting for something? But Thomas' thoughts were cut short by the arm of the golem reaching towards him. Even though his body armor weighed him down a bit, Thomas was still able to dive downward and escape the golem's grasp. "Why couldn't I fight something with actual flesh and bone that I could tear away," Thomas growled under his teeth. Thomas noticed that the golem's other arm was covering the Bount, so he aimed in that direction, hoping that it would be harder for the golem to attack him if it was focused on protecting its master.

For once, Vormund seemed amused. He actually chuckled when Thomas tried to attack his master, even if she was completely covered by his hand. All he had to do was bring his fingers of that hand together, leaving no real room for anything to get through. "Golem's Raserei..." Vormund spoke, reaching his arm out toward the man. From there, it shot out once again, swinging around like a whip. If he managed to grab on, he could get a good grasp on the man.

What is with this thing? It feels like it's getting faster by the minute! Thomas could only brace himself for the impact of the arm swinging towards him. As soon as it hit him, he pushed off of it with his legs, shooting away from the golem's reach. However, the force of the golem's swing was too strong, and Thomas crashed into the ground, bits of exoskeleton flying off of him. He sat up, gasping for air. Even with his armor, the golem's power was evident. Curses, that Doll may have broken some of my ribs. Maybe some internal bleeding too. Bloody hell, when is that bloody bug going to be done growing?! Gritting his teeth in pain, Thomas created a large spider, which began to shoot web all over the golem's limbs in an attempt to restrict its movements and buy Thomas more time.

Vormund actually let out a laugh, whipping his arms around to break the webs around his upper body. On his lower body, however, they had accumulated on the layer of mud, the very mud which was being washed away. With it, the webs went, leaving his whole upper body completely clean. "Well, it seems I'm almost done in this form. You see how the mud and leaves and branches have been washing off of my body? That means I'm getting stronger. I only have about a third of my body left, and then I'll be in my next form, something that was titled 'Uralter Vormund'. In case you're not quite used to your old languages, that means Ancient Guardian, human. I guard Hannelore, and nothing you do will keep me from doing my duty..." Vormund half-growled out, walking forward and kicking at the spider.

Thomas watched almost with a sense of acceptance as the body parts of the spider flew over him. This thing is just too much to deal with. He knew that even if he survived until his burrowing bug grew, it would have little chance now of defeating the behemoth that now stood before him. Thomas sighed and felt his body heaving as the special combination of eggs stored in his body began to quiver. A large body shot out of Thomas' mouth and immediately began to molt, growing larger and larger until it had reached an incredible size. Its mandibles and claws glistened with juices as it turned its gigantic head around for prey to eat. Far below, Thomas swayed, his body incredible emaciated. "Such a ravenous guy..." he murmured, looking up at his creation. "Go tear them both to pieces for me, won't you?" With that, Thomas slumped to the ground, nearly at the point of unconsciousness. His role in this fight was over.

Meanwhile, the creature sighted the large golem and through its senses detected a living being hidden in the golem's palm. Hungry for food, the creature released a shriek that pierced the air around it and crawled toward the golem with surprising speed, raising one of its humongous praying mantis arms to slice at the golem's hand that was protecting Hannelore.

That shrill, piercing screech and the slight view of the giant insect Hannelore saw through Vormund's hand were, combined, enough to push her over the edge, to the point where she just clutched at her sweat-drenched hair with her shaking hands, trying not to pass out. "VORMUND!!!" She shrieked, trying to claw her way out of his little cage for her.

"Oh, now you've gone and done it..." Vormund said as he stepped to the side, his whole lower body fully exposed now. The shining onyx that made up his form managed to glitter even in the cloudy night. After dodging the bugs' initial attack, Vormund opened up a compartment on his back and put Hannelore away, securing her safety. After that, he bent over into the muck that had just washed off of his body, and pulled a rather large staff out of it. "This would be my truer form, Uralter Vormund. Now, you shall perish," he spoke quickly, dashing toward the bug with his weapon at his side. With the removal of the last of the mud, Vormund got a substantial increase in speed, allowing him to keep up with basic lieutenant-level Shunpo. As he jumped into the air, Vormund grasped onto the edge of the large staff, aiming to slam the other end into the bug.

(The staff is a large, polished stone rod with two large maces, one on each end.)

The creature roared, furious that its prey had been hidden within the mountain-like figure. Its one goal now was to damage the golem as much as possible to drag out and devour the being that was emanating such a delicious scent. It reared up to meet Vormund's attack, raising one of its arms and grasping the staff below the mace with a scorpion claw, the impact from the golem's power surging through the creature and causing a shockwave across the area. The creature then opened its two praying mantis-like arms out wide and swept them in, hoping to cut into the golem's legs and forcing it to the ground.

"Golem's Raserei..." Vormund called out, wrenching the staff from the insect's grasp. This time, Golem's Raserei did not take the form of a single strike. Instead, it allowed Vormund to spin the maces on his staff, causing additional damage. He demonstrated this by first striking at the praying mantis arms, then again at its head. Each time the rod was swung, the orbs on the end spun around rapidly on their lengths of chain. It seemed like a deformed three-section staff, rather than a normal weapon. Of course, it didn't help that it was around fifteen feet tall.

The insect roared with both rage and pain as the golem struck its arms. Even with its protective armor, the maces on the staff managed to splinter parts of the armor, causing acid-green blood to spew out of the wounds. However, the insect had the huge horn on its head, which it used to parry and deflect the golem's third attack. Meanwhile, the insect's blood splattered on the staff, causing it to steam the acidic blood met the stone surface of the staff. The insect lowered its head and charged at the golem, aiming to hit it with its huge horn and then throw it high into the air to cause additional damage.
