First off, before doing anything in this thread it is required that you check the rank topics for the specific rules for each race. You should have already made your roleplay samples, have PM'ed your opponent, and alerted someone on staff about the fight.
1. It is required that each person posts within a 48 hour period. If this is not accomplished then the last poster will win by forfeit. If you are going to be absent, the staff member must be informed and a post must be made in the Absence and Return thread. If your character is the one being challenged, the fight will be rendered void if you inform us that you did not receive a PM.
In the case that a PM was sent but ignored, the sender must forward a copy to one of the staff members as proof. We can then verify the date and time that it was sent at. If a member intentionally feigned not receiving a PM, then they will be removed from their seat immediately.
2. The events that occur in the Position Battles are considered non-canon. They do not actually effect the roleplay directly. So you can't reference something you did in a position battle during the actual Roleplay unless specified otherwise at the beginning of the topic. However, any rank changes will affect the main Roleplay.
3. This should be self-explanatory, but you can only challenge those of your own race. No Quincies can become Shinigami Captains.
4. The particulars of who you can and cannot challenge varies among the races. Check the rank topics for more information.
Note: If you are a vizard or a quincy and challenge the member who is in the number one spot, this does not mean you become the leader of the council. Instead a vote will be taken among the race to see who will be chosen to be the next Number One. This is just a logical step to prevent fights and also to keep the Number One spot from being a pain.
5. The fight will last until either a clear winner is chosen or the fight reaches 99 posts. At that point the match will end and the staff member refereeing the match will make a decision.
6. IMPORTANT: WINNING THE MATCH DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU THE SPOT! The final decision is left to the staff member. A person may win the match, but their opponent may prove to be the better roleplayer. In that case the stronger roleplayer will get the spot. This is to ensure that the matches are unbiased, and prevents someone who has an obvious elemental advantage (such as a fire user against and ice user) from automatically winning. Winning does make the decision easier, but it is not an assured thing.
Note: This is especially true of the Superhuman Overseers who are powerful in ways besides basic physical abilities.
7. As stated in the ranking threads, you can only challenge once a week and can only BE challenged once a week. This is to keep the ranking from fluctuating too crazily.
