| Isn't it amazing that it has been more than a month now since a certain oil drilling station blew up in the Gulf of Mexico. Killing 11 workers, the explosion triggered what is argued to be the biggest ecological disaster in the history of the U.S.A. New evidence has surfaced that points fingers at British Petroleum, Inc. and the federal government, as well as shining a light on the oil situation and our "addiction to black gold."
What are your thoughts on this disaster, and anything else that was mentioned above?

| Lets stop using oil. That is the best solution.
Second best solution is to not have bueracrats control projects that they are also supposed to monitor. Things get screwed up that way because people try to cut corners.

| The problem about stopping oil usage entirely lies in what uses oil. Its more than just vehicles - many products that we use today use oil in their production. Plastic, for example, uses oil in its production.
Personally, safety regulations need to be more strictly enforced. This exact incident happened some 30 years ago I believe - only now, since the well is in much deeper water, the problem is more severe. When will they learn?

| Never honestly. The way that governments and companies work just doesn't really allow that.
Something I was thinking about.
A lot of things talk about how important it is to recycle because plastic doesn't biodegrade, instead it just becomes smaller and smaller particles that get into our water supply. I think we should try to make some device or system that can get together all of these smaller particles when they are in our water supply and attract them together. Then find some way to capture them so they can be reused again. It would save a lot of cost and trouble if we could figure that out.
And I do know the majority of products use oil somehow in their production. But vehicles and power plants remain the main user of oil. If you cut those out, the amount of oil necessary to be drilled would decrease significantly.

| Alas, here arises a major problem of human nature. We want results now; thus these type of infrastructural adjustments that can take decades (switching America's major energy source from oil, reusing plastic, etc.) are going to be underfunded or get little voter support, even if it's absolutely needed. Makes me wanna cry. | |

| Yeah, humans have this tedious tendency to rather have decent results now that'll lead to a clusterf*ck of a headache later, than take it slow and be as sure as they can that things will be alright later. Unless they have no choice, or actually use a few more braincells to think things through. Unfortunately, few VOTERS do that, and those who do are rarely the ones that everybody else listens to.
I'm not trying to critisize people for wanting results ASAP, nor the government in any way, only those who don't even try to look further ahead than their next trip to the bank, or the next time they have to pay for something.
Sorry if I offended anyone, it's merely my point of view, and I'm quite proud to think of myself as someone who tries to see things from all aspects I can think of... at times I am a bit too passionate about it though. If this is too provocative, let me know and I'll edit/delete it.
