Gouzen is about 6’2’’ and 184 pounds. He has long black hair styled in a ponytail hanging straight down. Gouzen also has piercing red eyes that compliment his black hair and shinigami outfit. He wears his shinigami outfit without sleeves and wears his zanpaktou in his belt on his back. He also wears black fingerless leather gauntlets.
Personality: Gouzen is probably the laziest person you would ever meet. He spends most of his time sleeping on roofs and avoiding his work all together. Actually if something doesn’t catch his attention directly he refuses to pay attention to it. Along with his laziness, Gouzen is arrogant at times. His arrogance will not be shown all the time, but mainly when battling people beneath him or just having a conversation with somebody he gets along with. He has a natural instinct to protect his comrades at all cost even if it means dying.
Fighting Style: Gouzen loves hand-to-hand combat, most of his fights are hand-to-hand even when is zanpaktou is released. If it was up to him he would never use his zanpaktou and continue hand-to-hand but all fights cannot be won that way. With his zanpaktou released Gouzen continues with hand-to-hand combat but adds his zanpaktou’s ability into it making him very unpredictable.
Background: Living World Arc:
Gouzen was born to a loving family with not a lot of problems. His father worked for Japan’s military which sent him all over Japan and sometimes China. When Raven was 5 his dad died on a mission to China for unknown reasons. For the next couple of years Raven trained himself to become as strong as his dad so that nobody in his family would go through the pain of loss again. When Gouzen was 18 he joined Japan’s military like his father and stayed there until he died. Gouzen became well known through the military because of his father and his own skills. Now on vacation Gouzen went home to see his mother, but was murdered by some random person who had it out for the military. Gouzen spent most of his life trying to protect his family from the pain of loss, but it seemed he was the one to give it.
Soul Society Arc:
Now being a ghost Gouzen wandered Japan for a couple of days knowing fully what he has done to his family but accepting it without any regret. Finally being transported to Soul Society Gouzen didn’t do much of anything for a while. Most of his time was spent lounging around and hanging out with the kids making sure they did not feel lonely about not knowing where their parents were. One day bandits came to attack the village taking their anger out from the shinigami on the villagers. During that fight Gouzen found out that he had some spiritual energy and became feared by the bandits giving the village protection. Having spirit energy the villagers started to tell Gouzen that he should become a shinigami so he could do good for all the villages around Soul Society. Taking the villagers advice Gouzen joined the Soul Academy and left the village forever.
Seireitei Arc:
Gouzen’s time in the Soul Academy was boring and long. He really did not like using kido, but was already good at close range fighting which helped him out in the long road. Gouzen spent most of his time not studying and barely getting by in his classes which didn’t bother him at all, but it did not look good. Finally graduating the Soul Academy Gouzen joined the 8th Squad and has stayed there ever since. On a recon mission to the human world Gouzen and his team were attacked by hollows. The battle was bloody and many people were killed, but in the midst of the battle Gouzen released his zanpaktou and managed to save his last remaining comrades. At the moment Gouzen does not like to use his zanpaktou as he feels it would give him a higher rank and more work which he hates. He is still in 8th squad and spending every day sleeping.
