Appearance:
Machizumo is a tall man, standing at a height of 6' 7". The Captain of the 11th has a light tan on his skin, skin that's covered in a number of scars on his chest and a couple on his forearms. He's incredibly well built in his chest region and his arms. Machizumo also has a set of crimson eyes that make for quite the imposing sight when he's covered in blood, be it his own or another's. Finally, Machizumo has lengthy pitch black hair that reaches down to his waist, though he usually keeps it tied back into a ponytail. It's not exactly uncommon for it to go flying loose in the middle of a pitched battle though.
Machizumo wears the standard coat that comes with the Captain's rank. However, his coat is quite tattered at the ends, with multiple holes all over the garment. In addition, the sleeves were ripped off after he decided that they impeded his movement. He wears no shirt under the coat, not really caring what people think of his outward appearance. He also wears the standard uniform for a regular Shinigami, though the top half had been long severed from his over all outfit, leaving only the pants and a crimson sash that was originally white. Unlike other Shinigami, he also wears a set of black boots over his feet.
Personality:
Machizumo's personality is pretty evident of the whole of the 11th's ideal. Fearless and relentless in combat, he has a natural penchant for battle and destruction, not caring what's in his way. He's also a very loyal to all that he counts as friends, even calling his Squad a "Family". He has very little care for tactics or anything of the like and tends to be very hotheaded, rushing recklessly into a fight with little to no care for his own well-being.
At times, he has a tendency to fly into a "Berserker Rage", and attack until whatever he was fighting is "deader than dead". In fact, he has very little self-control at this point and will do whatever it takes to kill the individual(s). At times like this, allies are quick to fly from the reach of Machizumo and his Zanpakuto. For good reason, as he could just as likely kill friend and foe alike if the "Rage" gets too intense for his self-control.
Machizumo has a particular kind of charisma about himself as well. The individuals in the 11th feel quite drawn to the man, coming largely from the fact that the 11th accepts all individuals no matter the looks so long as they can wield a weapon. In this regard, Machizumo is quite open about who he lets in his squad, save for those that prefer Kido or the like.
Fighting Style:
Machizumo, like most of the 11th, is all about sheer force and skill with his Zanpakuto. Machizumo, even among his squad, holds their philosophy high and will charge right into the thick of battle or even beyond the front lines of his own force and allies. He has very little patience for range and will quickly close a gap between him and an enemy if he can. He has decent speed, higher than most Shinigami, but among the Captains, and even a select few Lieutenants, he's fairly slow.
Background:
Machizumo was originally a man born into a long line of fighters. To be specific, he was born into an era of war for his country. His father, a samurai by the name of Toshio, taught his son ruthlessly and efficiently as he grew, turning him into a warrior. For many years, Machizumo served under the Warlord that his father before him served. However, after the death of his wife, Machizumo knew that there was only one thing left for him. In a surge of fury, he rode out alone and met his end against the roving band of marauders.
He would awaken a long number of years later with barely any recollection of his former life. In fact, there was only one real thing that stuck out in his mind, the will and need to fight. However, the new place he was in didn't particularly take well to random individuals just starting a ruckus for no reason. After being imprisoned, it was a long while before he ever spoke to another person. The person that Machizumo was a man by the name of Zafaron. The man offered him a deal, become a Shinigami and work under him, and Machizumo was a free man.
Deciding that he rather liked the idea of freedom, Machizumo took up the man on his offer. After attending the Academy, and somehow managing to pass despite the way he was, Machizumo took up with the 11th Squadron, the "Elite Combat Division" as it's official title stated. He rose quickly through the ranks of the 11th, eventually taking the position of Third Seat, under Captain Zafaron and Lieutenant Kuro. It was at this time that a portion of chaos founded itself in the 11th. First, the Lieutenant had disappeared on everyone, the Captain seemingly knowing what had occurred but never telling anyone. From then on, Machizumo served as the "Acting Lieutenant".
The years passed with relatively little happenstance. Until that is, the death of the former Sotaichou. A great number of debates were held by all of the Soul Society of who would be the great successor. In the end, it was the Captain of the 11th, Zafaron Uriuc. With that final action, the 11th Squad was quiet in peril of having no leadership. However, Machizumo stepped forward and proclaimed that he would accept the responsibility in place of Zafaron. And so, the 11th had a new Captain.
