Appearance: Natsu is 5 feet 8 inches, and weighs about 120 lbs. He has almost golden blond hair and bright blue eyes. His physique is that of a slim, but well trained young man, in good shape, his skin being somewhat pale – most would refer to him as having an elegant physical appearance.
As for clothing, he mostly wears a white or black shirt, a pair of dark jeans, black shoes and a pair of black fingerless gloves. At times he tops it off with a black eveningwear waistcoat, though only if he’s wearing a white shirt, and only at special occations.
For accesories he wears a simple necklace with a pendant which resembles a wing with silver feathers and a watch on his right arm, which some people find odd since he is right handed. He practicly always has a small MP3 player in his right pocket complete with a pair of earbuds with long enough wire for it to stay in his pocket.
Personality: The greatest personality traits of Natsu are his pride and his moral. While he claims to have a flexible moral, he still has strong views of what is right and wrong, and believes that action most of the time speaks louder than words. Most people find that confusing since he is also highly philosophical at times and spends most of his time off pondering about everything he possible can think of – which is alot. He even judges people from the moment he meets them by getting close to them and staring into their eyes with a look of wonder and interest in his eyes, after which he will plainly state either “I like your eyes” with a gentle smile, or “I don’t like your eyes” with a harsher tone in his voice, and a look in his eyes that leaves no doubt in anyones mind that his first hand impression of them isn’t exactly good, though if he is proven wrong he will apologize and make amends in any way he can.
His pride is something he inherited from his mother, who taught him the importance of staying true to yourself. He will laugh when happy, yell when upset and cry when sad, living without regret and always stand for what he believes in, for better or for worse, and nobody in the world can make him change his ways. He always speaks with a calm, gentle voice and treats everyone with respect untill they prove to be unworthy of it, even a complete stranger.
In battle his gentle nature is still present, as he will always start by trying to fight at the same pace as his oponent, as long as he has no reason to end the battle as quickly as possible, and doesn’t hold a grudge against whoever he is fighting. He thinks that not allowing an enemy to fight their best for something they believe in is an insult to them. However, if he has to move on fast, or takes revenge for something his enemy did, he will turn into a beast – his normally so bright, friendly eyes will have in them a look of disgust and hatred so intense even seasoned fighters would often find themselves intimidated. As soon as a battle ends though, he will turn back into his usual self.
While not seeing himself as a leader, he can speak charismaticly enough to lift anyones spirits, and listens to any advise or suggestion from subordinates and higher ups alike, and will always take any ideas they may have in concideration. At the same time, he is open and will listen to any comrades problems, personal or otherwise, and will give advise and guidance as best he can.
He is highly passionate about the arts, especially music, to the point of almost constantly listening to music with his MP3 player, even when working, plainly stating that it helps him “get into the right rythm”.
Fighting Style: Dispite his humble age compared to many fighters, he is highly skilled at melee combat, both unarmed and with swords, having learned various martial arts, most of Chinese origin. He has trained intensly to make his technique “like a river, flowing from one move into the next” as he describes it. He claims to have 2 ways of fighting – either unarmed, or using 2 kodachi (holding one normaly in his left hand, and the other reversed in his right hand), though he is also highly skilled at fighting with a katana. He adapts quickly to various combat situations, and is known to at times fight as a brawler in a street fight if the situation calls for it, though still fighting with honor, refusing to strike a defeated oponent or go for the crotch.
Background:Early YearsAlready as a child Natsu Fuuga had the ability to see spirits, and a pretty high level of Reiatsu for a human. His father being from a long line of merchants with great success, Natsu was expected by most to take over the family buisness when the time came. However, his mother who, as he would find out eventually, was a Superhuman only wished for her son to choose his own path in life.
Already from childhood he had the ability to see ghosts and hollows – he called the hollows “monsters” when talking to his parents about them, since that was what they were to him. His father of course brushed it aside as simple childs fantasies, like the Boogey Man, or monsters under the bed. His mother knew otherwise, and always told him that “Mummy won’t let the monsters touch her precious boy”. She protected him even when he didn’t know it, by fighting
Life continued, as it does, but he never did get the interest in becoming a merchant that his father wanted him to have.
AwakeningAround the time he turned 10, his Reiatsu, without him knowing, began to grow at a high pace. In fact, it started to attract higher level intellegent hollows. While his mother still protected him behind the scenes, the attempts did get closer and closer to Natsu.
One day, only 4 months after his birthday, there was an attack in broad daylight at a local park. Natsu wasn’t originaly the target, but that changed when the hollow noticed his Reiatsu. His mother jumped in front of the hollow and managed to damage it, but unfortunately also got hurt in the progress to the point that she couldn’t move. In fact, she lost the ability to walk due to damage to her legs. The hollow attempted to use this opportunity to strike her first, as she seemed the bigger threat. However, the moment before it could kill her, Natsus ability manifested.
He acted without thinking, running at the hollow while yelling, then letting punches and kicks rain down on it. Had it been unharmed it would have been able to defeat him, but wounded as it was it fled. However, the sudden increase of power left him weak, and he fainted within minutes. Luckily, another human with the ability to see spirits, though not a Superhuman nor Quincy, had seen the fight. This man carried them both to the hospital, where Natsu only needed rest while his mother would never walk again.
Gaining StrengthAs it turned out, the man who had seen and rescued Natsu and his mother was a barber, and a fighter well known in the world of underworld fighting and gambling. Natsu asked the man if he was strong, to which he merely replied “Strong enough to hold my own”. He offered the child the chance to train to become stronger, and Natsu accepted.
For the next 4 years, every day after home school he went to see that man, and learned much. He even helped in the barber shop, making the job go faster, which also gave more time for training. After those 4 years, Natsu began coming along to the underground fights, in a place called the Arena. He watched the man he now called “Sensei” fight many battles, and winning most of them. After 7 months of going to the fights, he began to enter them as well. His Superhuman powers were still immature, but they helped him to not only minimize damage, but also win many fights. As he fought various styles he became intersted in many of them, and began having wagers with his oponents – if he won, they would teach him the style they used. And within years, he had learned much more about martial arts and street fighting than you’d expect of someone so young.
It was also in the Arena he was scouted for the organization of Superhumans. He made a bet with his recruiter – if he lost a match he would join the Superhumans, no questions asked. He fought hard, but ended up the loser, his control over his powers still at a low level without any real practice.
Climbing the RanksAfter joining the ranks of Superhumans, he finally began learning to control his powers. In time, he began taking on harder missions than expected of his rank and age, and he gained the notice of the Overseers. After many trials testing his abilities as a leader, as well as his influence in the world of underground fighting, he was appointed an Overseer at the age of 24, one of the youngest he knew of. Though still not used to the position, he has proven himself worthy of the position, and is not above asking both his Sempai and subordinates for ways to improve himself.
At about the same time, he was hired in his Sensei’s barber shop, where he happily works together with his Sensei, and still often visits his parents.
Well, there you have it, Attempt the First of my character. Hope it isn't too long, I had a tough time translating what I said without the meaning being lost.
Fuuga is kind of a pun at him, and an opportunity of a cheap shot for characters, since it means "Elegance". Just a side note
