Name: Hyoutaka
Zanpakuto Spirit Appearance: Hyoutaka takes the form of a large Eagle, made completely of ice. At least, this is what he presents himself as when Atsuko contacts him in her inner world. Atsuko suspects that this is not his true form, however, and believes that he simply does not trust her enough to reveal it just yet. Atsuko’s inner world, presumably under his influence, is a massive iceberg, at the center of an endless ocean.
Zanpakuto Spirit Personality: Hyoutaka is a rather introverted being. He is very untrusting, and only recently has begun to allow Atsuko a small measure of trust. This small measure was given at the time Atsuko achieved shikai – in fact, the shikai form is his expression of that small trust they share. However, beyond fighting alongside her, Hyoutaka does not fully believe in Atsuko just yet. In his eye, she has yet to prove herself to him.
Release Phrase: Tsumetai hen'iki ni hawotonaeru! (Reign supreme over your frozen domain!)

Shikai: - Spoiler:
Shikai Ability: The blades of Hyoutaka in shikai are extremely cold to the touch. These include the spear, both crescent blades, and the secondary spearhead on the opposite end of the shaft. They are cold enough to freeze on contact, resulting in an effect that is similar to cauterizing when she causes wounds with the weapon. Most of them will not bleed, though as a result, the wounded being suffers from fairly severe frostbite later on. Atsuko has been known to use this ability on herself as well to stem the flow of blood from a wound. Blood-loss is more dangerous than frostbite, after all. In addition, when using shikai, there appears to be a cloud of mist following Atsuko, though it has no active effect in a fight.
Techniques:
Touketsu Suru Nage Yari (Frozen Javelin) – with this ability, Atsuko is able together the mist that follows her, and compact it into a Javelin. Atsuko has trained with this technique over the years, so that she can effectively throw a javelin with either her left or her right hand. These javelins are as tough as any other weapon, and just as capable of doing damage. In addition, once they leave Atsuko’s hand and then lose all of their momentum, or if they are broken, they fade away into mist once again. This mist will eventually return to Atsuko over time, so she can later make another. It should be noted that Atsuko does not have to immediately throw the Javelin – she can use it as an extra weapon as well.
Limitations: 1 turn charge, lasts until the javelin is destroyed, or loses its momentum after thrown, 2 turn cooldown.
Shouhi no Shimo (Consuming Frost) – this second technique is also a ranged attack. With a swing of either an ice javelin or her zanpakuto, Atsuko can launch a crescent-shaped blade of ice, roughly three feet in length, and a foot in thickness. On the outside, it looks very much like a ranged ‘ice blade’, so to speak. However, upon contact with either an opponent, or a hard surface, the ice explodes outwards, freezing over whatever it touches. The ice will expand a total of six feet in every direction except that from which it was fired. Of course, it cannot expand underground either. This makes it dangerous to block, as doing so can result in becoming partially frozen in place. Atsuko has also been known to launch them at the ground before her, and use the resulting burst of ice as a shield. It should be noted that this is not an incredibly damaging technique to opponents who are on an equal level with Atsuko. If they are caught by the full force, it is a temporary prison that can be broken, however it leaves them open to a direct attack from Atsuko.
Limitations: Instant activation, 4 turn cooldown.
Touketsu Suru Keimusho (Frozen Prison) – this final technique is one Atsuko very rarely uses. It is a last ditch effort, either to defeat her opponent or hold them off long enough for her escape. This is because, after using this technique, her zanpakuto is disabled, returning it to its sealed state and requiring a minimum of 24 hours of recovery before it can be released again. In addition, there is one final requirement in order for her to use this technique – her zanpakuto must be broken. When activated, the pieces of Hyoutaka fade into mist, which immediately collects around her opponent, after which it instantly freezes into a block of ice. It is capable of completely freezing around the enemy. It can kill a severely wounded opponent, however in most cases it will simply put them in a temporary prison, allowing Atsuko to escape. The shape of the ‘prison’ I an ice dome, about twelve feet in diameter and six feet tall at the center, where the opponent would be – so it is entirely possible for the opponent to be only partially trapped.
Limitations: Zanpakuto must be broken. Instant activation, 24 hour cooldown to use shikai again.
